Timothy Bagwell – Editor

PhD Humanities, MFA Creative Writing, 12 Years Experience as Editor for Houghton Mifflin and McGraw-Hill, Published Fiction Writer

Overview

I have a doctorate in English and humanities, an MFA in creative writing from the Iowa Writers Workshop, and ten years experience as a college writing teacher, most recently at Vanderbilt University. I was a Senior Editor at the nonprofit GBF, where I worked on all levels of the Junior Great Books Reading and Discussion Program, as well as the adult reading and discussion anthologies Love and Marriage, Parent and Child, and Order and Chaos. I also have twelve years experience as Editor and Senior Editor for Houghton Mifflin and McGraw-Hill, where I worked primarily on content development for high-school English literature and language arts. As a freelance writer and general editor, I have worked in a wide variety of content areas, including general and cross-disciplinary literacy programs, science and history education, nursing, economics, psychology, and management. In addition to developmental writing and editing, I am a skilled copy editor and proofreader. I have published three original science-fiction novelettes.

As someone to work with, I am easygoing, collaborative, and reliable. My goal will be to help you accomplish what you want to accomplish, both by understanding your vision and by offering my talent and experience as appropriate. I won't agree to work with you unless I really believe I can help you.
