Michael Benge

Michael Benge – Editor

I specialise in wellbeing, social care, mental health and learning disabilities, as well as English Language Teaching (ELT) books.

I have been a professional editor and proofreader for 20 years and am now leaving behind the security of salaried employment and setting up as a freelancer. For the last several years I have been specialising in health and social care books, particularly covering mental health issues, learning disabilities, nursing, drug and alcohol addiction and psychology, as well as English language teaching (ELT), having worked on several ELTon-nominated titles. I have also had a great deal of experience in legal publishing and books for the emergency services.

I can offer a service that is as light or as in-depth as you require, and work as closely alongside you or as independently as you prefer, developing your manuscript and bringing it up to a highly polished finish or simply providing another pair of eyes you can trust to ensure a level of perfection you can be proud of. If required I will return your manuscript with in-depth feedback and developmental ideas and criticism, suggestions and questions, all fully marked up for your appraisal, and I will do so to meet your deadlines.

Michael was absolutely fantastic! He provided precise line editing for my manuscript, and he delivered it right on schedule. Not only was he quick in responding to my emails, but he also went above and beyond by tackling some tasks that weren't initially included in the project. Furthermore, he kindly offered to proofread the manuscript after it's been typeset. I wholeheartedly recommend his se...

If you are looking for a professional editor for your book, look no further than Michael Benge, particularly if your book is non-fiction or has technical stuff in it. Michael has been superb at not only the primary role of po...
