My passion for literature has taken me on a long and interesting path that has crossed borders. From the gritty backstreets of south London, editing the exploits of the gangsters and criminals who walked the same streets where I grew up (words often written from a prison cell or in the years after a long spell inside, and later appearing on the shelves of bookstores around the country) to the sunnier climes of Mexico and the world of education. During the latter spell, I was lucky enough (and still am) to work for some of the biggest and best editorial companies in the business.
I'm a professional editor, proofreader and published writer from the UK with over 20 years' experience both in house and as a freelancer. I have undertaken assignments for a wide range of clients, including OUP, CUP, Richmond, Pearson Education, Virgin Books, Walker Books, John Blake Publishing, and Welbeck Publishing (formerly Carlton Books), alongside editing and proofing work for individual authors.
I've had the pleasure of following the lives of my own musical heroes, the misfortune of following the lives of some infamous characters I'd rather forget, and the pride of working on a few bestsellers too! But perhaps the most memorable feeling I've had during my publishing career is seeing my own words in print. That's why we're all here at the end of the day, and that's something I can help you with too. I've also been on the receiving end of an editor's comments and I know how important the relationship is between author and editor. I can promise honesty, professionalism and, arguably most important of all, the encouragement every author needs, no matter what their level of experience.
I won't bore you here with specific info about the books I've worked on over the years but there's a small selection of titles below if you fancy a browse.
On a personal note, I'm as passionate about music as I am about literature (to the point where, even as the lines creep unforgivingly around my eyes, I still can't walk away from the lure of the stage and that beautiful wall of sound that makes my heart beat way too fast on occasion). And, returning to the literary theme, I still also read for fun!
Drop me a line at any time and let's see what we can do together.
