As a former full-time book publishing professional, I know the importance of a good index not only to the reader, but also to the publisher’s and/or author's marketing efforts.
Clients have included: F&W Media: HOW Books, Writer’s Digest Books, North Light Books, Krause Publications, Betterway Home; Prima Publications, a division of Random House; SAGE Publications, Inc, Corwin Press; William Morrow; Windsor Publications, Inc; Cherbo Publishing Group; Jostens Publishing Group; and Amnet Systems (ABC-Clio, Greenwood, Public Affairs, University of Alaska Press, Libraries Unlimited, Princeton University Press, Mulholland Books, Praeger).
Also, in my many years of editorial and production experience, I learned that in addition to content and accuracy, the speed in which an index is compiled is a prime concern. Knowing that a late index can delay a book’s publication, I have never missed a deadline.

I worked as a full-time publishing professional for Windsor Publications, Inc., North America's largest publisher of illustrated state and local history books during the 1980s and 1990s. During my 12 years there, I held the positions of Editorial Director, Senior Editor, and Senior Photo Editor.
While employed by Windsor, I also indexed books on a freelance basis.
I have been indexing books since 1980.
