Suzy Swartz – Editor

Big Five editor with six years' experience, specializing in cookbooks and illustrated lifestyle

Overview

Hi! I'm a nonfiction editor at Penguin Random House, where I work on New York Times-bestselling and James Beard Award-winning books. My first and truest loves are lifestyle and cookbooks, and I love helping creatives bring their recipes, stories, and wisdom to the page.

As a freelance cookbook editor, I have worked with authors from the recipe-testing and -writing stages, to proposal development, all the way to copyediting; I do all this with the inside-baseball knowledge of what a publisher is looking for in a manuscript on both a logistical and conceptual level. I'll ghostwrite, help you find your narrative hook, offer structural and line edits, collaborate with your photographer and designer, or even suss out your corner of the publishing marketplace.

I have experience collaborating with brands (including Love and Lemons, Moon Juice, and Cafe Gratitude) and individuals alike and am happy to meet you or your team wherever you're at. Let's chat!
