Susan McGrath – Editor

Experienced copyeditor and proofreader working primarily in the book publishing industry. My clients include traditional publishers, including Simon and Schuster, Penguin Random House, and Hachette, as well as independent publishers. I'm skilled in basic and line editing, and proofreading. I also have copyediting experience in marketing, finance, nonprofit, and wellness sectors, and have written website content and blog posts for those businesses. I'm highly proficient in Chicago Manual of Style and AP Stylebook. I work mostly with Microsoft Word Track Changes and Adobe Acrobat editing tools, including proofreading stamps.

Although I do really enjoy working on nonfiction manuscripts, fiction is my favorite type of editing. Fiction writing has a lot of moving parts that have to be tracked--changes in weather, days of the week, seasons, spellings of names, streets, towns. My job is to make sure things stay consistent while in motion.

What makes every manuscript unique is the author's voice. While I will fix typos and incorrect punctuation, and suggest ways to improve grammar, I will not make any edits that change the author's voice.
