Overview
I focus on proofreading, both fiction and nonfiction.
A graduate of the University of Oxford, I learned standard proofing techniques as a journalist at The Times of London. I now work with a diverse range of publishers and individual clients in the US and UK.
Some recent highlights are "Biking Uphill in the Rain" by Tom Fucoloro, selected as a "Peak Pick" at the Seattle Public Library, and "Treaty Justice" by Charles Wilkinson, published on the 50th anniversary of the landmark Boldt Decision on Indigenous rights (both UW Press), as well as "Going to See" (Mountaineers), a collection of essays inspired by acclaimed nature writer Barry Lopez.
I am comfortable working on hard copy or digital materials, plain text or designed pages, notes & bibliography, and with style sheets and manuals (CMOS, AP). I bring the same meticulous attention to detail to every job and always approach the work in a spirit of collaboration.
I have completed the excellent Proofreading Essentials course at the University of Washington. I hold a BA in Classics from Oxford and MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA.
I have also worked as a screenwriter in Hollywood and the UK, including for Warner Bros, BBC, Participant, and Pathé.
Originally from London, I am currently based in Seattle, where I enjoy hiking, birdwatching, and photography.
I'm very approachable, so please don't hesitate to get in touch. Whether you are a seasoned author or looking to self-publish for the first time, I'd love to hear from you.
