Siobhán Murphy – Editor

I am a Glasgow-based publishing professional with several years experience in publishing, writing, editing, ELT teaching, proofreading, medical regulation, and marketing. I’m very excited to take the next step into working for myself.

I began my publishing career working in primary and secondary schools marketing at Oxford University Press. Following this, I took on a role as an editorial assistant for Routledge, with a specialism in ELT and literacy. After that, I worked as a content editor in ELT at Oxford University Press, although my primary focus was in secondary schools, I worked on titles for a range of ages. From this role, I was then promoted to development editor. I developed a number of print, digital and video components from content creation through proofing to final delivery to the markets. On these components, I worked closely with writers to brief them, motivate them, deliver feedback, and to overcome any obstacles that arise. Finally, I have worked for the last year as a publications editor for The General Medical Council, writing, editing, and producing their annual report and accounts.

My style of feedback aims to be direct and clear, making suggestions for improvements while also recognising all the great work the writer has done. I am careful, with a strong eye for detail and will give each project the individual attention it requires.
