Overview
I've worked as a senior editor at Dorling Kindersley, Carlton Books and Little Tiger, and freelanced for many publishers, including Pan Macmillan and Hachette. Areas of expertise include illustrated non-fiction and educational books, young children's activity titles, novelty books (e.g. titles with flaps and pop-ups) and well-known brands (such as Disney and LEGO). I have also edited museum guides, board and picture books, classic story retellings and titles with digital tie-ins. Versatile and conscientious, I am well versed in book project-management, structural editing, copyediting, proofreading, researching and fact-checking, while always adapting my style for different genres, formats, subjects and age groups. I am also a published author and well aware of what it feels like to be in a writer's shoes. I take great pleasure in collaborating with talented authors, designers and illustrators to create inspirational books that are informative but accessible and beautiful yet fun.
Subjects I have commissioned and/ or edited include history, geography, nature and the environment, STEM, politics, cultures, mythology, crafts, write-in activities, arts. Board and picture book topics, such as bedtime, numbers, love, Halloween and Christmas.
I have written children's books published by Little Tiger, Dorling Kindersley (DK), Noodle Fuel, Franklin Watts (Hachette), National Geographic, Welbeck – on subjects ranging from pets to time travel.
Brand licensors and other publishing partners I have collaborated with include Royal Museums Greenwich (London, UK), LEGO, Disney, Universal, Aardman Animations (Wallace and Gromit), Maths – No Problem!, Hasbro (My Little Pony), Science Museum (London, UK), Thomas & Friends, Griffith Institute – Egyptology (Oxford, UK).
