Overview
With over twenty years' experience, specializing in archaeology, history, the humanities and natural history, I help my clients turn their projects into the books they imagined.
I work with traditional publishers and businesses as well as with authors directly, but my greatest pleasure is seeing a client realise what is often a long-held dream to become a published author.
I have a PhD in history and landscape studies, as well as extensive training in editorial skills through the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. I also bring to the table an instinct for the author's own voice, which I always seek to preserve and enhance, and an approachable manner.
My feedback and suggestions are always constructive and aimed at instilling confidence, and I am prepared to take the time to develop texts so that they engage the reader from the first to the final page.
I am also able to meet your back-of-book indexing needs, from a simple list of terms or persons to a complex index suited to an academic monograph. I can also draw up an index from a list of suggested terms.
Testimonials
• ‘The work you did on [the] manuscript was magnificent – [we] were both incredibly impressed and grateful for everything you did.’ (Hertfordshire University Press)
• ‘I am immensely grateful to the copy editor for the extraordinary care and attention she has devoted to reading the text so meticulously. I am extremely fortunate to have had the benefit of such close reading.’ (Hugh Prince, published by Hertfordshire University Press)
• ‘Thanks for your wonderful help. You have some real skill. You have generously helped the manuscript become clearer and more important.’ (David Boje, State University of New Mexico, published by Taylor & Francis)
• ‘ … excellent copy-editing, which is exceptionally thorough, accurate and trouble-free.’ (John Blair, published by Exeter University Press)
• ‘She effortlessly improves any text, without undertaking the kinds of unnecessary revision that change the original sense. She provides a perfect level of textual consistency, according to whatever “house style” she is working to. And she has an unerring eye for the author’s own inconsistencies, which she flags up with tact, and occasionally some humour. It is a joy to work with her: I cannot recommend her too highly.’ (Tom Williamson, Emeritus Professor, School of History, University of East Anglia)
