Sara Veglahn – Editor

Precise and efficient copy editor and proofreader. Extensive experience with spirituality and self-help books. Novelist/writing professor.

Overview

As a copy editor and proofreader, my approach is to offer you a new way of seeing your writing and bring it to its fullest potential. With a comprehensive copy edit, I can help you arrive at your most resonant work! My aim is to assist you in uncovering what has not yet reached the page, so that your manuscript aligns more clearly with your vision. My precise and accurate proofreading offers your manuscript that final, and necessary, polish and precision. If you work with me, you can expect kind, supportive, and clear communication along with highly detailed and comprehensive feedback.

In addition to nearly two decades of freelance editing, I also have extensive experience teaching writing. For over a decade, I’ve taught composition, literature, and creative writing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level at multiple universities. What this experience has provided for me as an editor are the skills to work with multiple genres and expertise in helping diverse writers find and maintain their unique voices. I also served as the Associate Editor for the Denver Quarterly, which provided me with the insights to help writers who are interested in submitting work to literary journals.

I am the author of two novels, The Ladies (winner of the 2016 Noemi Press Book Award for Fiction) and The Mayflies (Dzanc 2014), and the poetry chapbook Another Random Heart (Letter Machine 2009).

I earned an MFA in creative writing from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a PhD in literature and creative writing from the University of Denver.
