Sally Collings

Sally Collings – Ghostwriter

Developmental editor & USA Today bestselling ghostwriter helping nonfiction authors shape book proposals & manuscripts that land deals.

Overview

Hi, I’m Sally. I help first-time nonfiction authors transform big ideas and life stories into books that matter. Whether you’re an entrepreneur shaping a thought-leadership book, a professional polishing a book proposal, or a memoirist elevating your draft manuscript, I guide you from rough pages to a book proposal or manuscript you can be proud to pitch or publish.

On Reedsy, I focus on services that meet authors where they are:

* Manuscript or proposal reviews ($950–$2,250) to give you clear, actionable feedback.

* Proposal editing and coaching (from $5,000) to help you present your work professionally to agents and publishers.

* Developmental editing (from $10,000) to strengthen structure, narrative, and voice.

My background: I bring more than two decades of experience in publishing—starting in-house at HarperCollins, later branching into ghostwriting and developmental editing. Books I’ve worked on have become USA Today bestsellers and won awards, while the book proposals I’ve crafted have helped authors land major publishing deals. I’ve seen the industry from the inside out, and I know what it takes to move a manuscript from promising draft to professional standard.

A little about me: I grew up devouring sci-fi and fantasy classics (Heinlein and Tolkien were my go-tos), and these days I’m happily hooked on myth-soaked romantasy—Naomi Novik’s Spinning Silver and Uprooted are on my forever shelf. I’m also a sucker (pun intended) for thoughtful vampire stories. Away from my desk, you’ll usually find me at the movies, hiking the county parks of California’s South Bay, or strength training (editing is easier when you can leg-press your own bodyweight, I’m sure). And whenever I can, I escape to France—the Basque region most recently, where the food, culture, and wine were as irresistible as I’d hoped.

If you’re looking for a book partner who can balance editorial precision with encouragement—and who knows the publishing landscape inside out—I’d love to hear about your project.

Now booking projects from November 2025 onwards.
