Rosa Pugliese

Rosa Pugliese – Translator

Spanish Translator & Editor| 20+ yrs in Christian publishing | 100+ books, including Bibles, devotionals, and faith-based content.

Overview

With over 20 years of experience in Christian publishing, I specialize in English–Spanish translation, editing, and proofreading. I’ve translated and/or edited more than 100 books, including Bibles, devotionals, and inspirational works by well-known authors such as Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, Elizabeth George, Tony Evans, and Gary Chapman, among others.

My passion is helping authors and publishers communicate their message with clarity, accuracy, and heart—whether that means faithfully conveying tone and meaning in translation, refining a manuscript through careful editing, or polishing a text to its final, ready-to-publish form.

Clients describe working with me as professional, collaborative, and encouraging. I approach every project with integrity and a genuine desire to see your work shine while preserving your unique voice.

If you’re looking for a translator or editor who understands both the creative process and the spiritual depth of your work, I’d be honored to partner with you.

Work experience

Self-employed

Jan, 2018 — Present
I have a linguistic business dedicated primarily to translating and/or editing Christian literature. We also offer ghostwriter services as putting together books, sermons, teachings, articles, and more.

Self-employed

Mar, 2000 — Present
Since I’ve been in the translation business for more than 20 years, I had the privilege to translate books for some well-known authors, such as Gary Chapman, Gary Smalley, J. Oswald Sanders, Elisabeth Elliot, Ruth Graham, Tony Evans, and Elizabeth George, among others. You may go to my portfolio to take a look at some of the more than 100 books I have translated and/or edited. As an experienced translator, the client may be sure I deliver a “ready-to-publish” translation. My translations are composed of three phases: translation, line editing, and proofreading. On the translation phase, the major emphasis is in capturing the meaning of the original text. On the line editing phase, the translation is compared to the original text to avoid possible misinterpretations, grammar and spelling mistakes. And on the proofreading phase, I go through the manuscript again, carefully checking for any other kind of inaccuracies.

What advice would you give to your younger translator self?

If I could give advice to my younger translator self, I would begin with this: be patient—translation is a lifelong craft. It takes years of practice to develop a natural ear for tone and rhythm, and every project teaches something new. When I started more than twenty years ago, translation and...
