Daniel Vieira

Daniel Vieira – Translator

Translating for 38+ years in most areas (323 books), including many best-sellers. I stay in touch all the time and get back to you quickly.

My very first published book was a classic from Peter Norton ("Inside the IBM PC") in 1986 and since then I've been working on 322 books, translated and published by mainstream publishers in the country. My areas of expertise vary from computer, physics and engineering to mathematics, literature, religion and statistics. My language pair is English<->Portuguese.

**** All my offers include proofreading as part of the job. ****

I can generally send a quote within 24 hours and a proofread manuscript no more than one week after starting the translation, with partial translations as often as needed until the whole job is finished. I'll be glad to receive your feedback and make any necessary changes. I can be reached by e-mail or texting whenever you need and, throughout the translation process, I'll keep you posted about any issues that may appear.

So that you have the best return on your work and reach the widest audience, I am prepared to adapt your work to the target audience, not just performing a literal translation.

322 book translations for publishing companies like Pearson, McGraw-Hill, Microsoft Press, Elsevier, Makron Books, Berkeley and others.

Work experience

May, 1999 — Present

Books and documents translation, using tools like Microsoft Word, Trados, atms, memoQ, Xbench.

- IT, hardware, software, networking, electronics, operating systems
- Business, physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics
- Romance, religion, culture, didactical

My first experience with a publishing house was at Elsevier in January 1986, when I requested an interview and received my first book as a trial. Since then, I have received several job offers from that and other publishers (Pearson, McGraw Hill, Berkeley, Microsoft Press, Makron Books) to translate their books, from small to huge, for 37 years since the beginning.

In general, I translate and proofread the text, delivering each chapter as it is ready, streamlining the process for other steps in the production pipeline.

I have also translated texts to other companies, such as GoGlobal, Link Translations and Eurabic Translations, using different translation and quality assurance (QA) tools.

Daniel was very efficient, professional, and Christian-like. I am very fortunate to have found someone of his caliber and experience to translate my book. He was also very easy to work with and gave me a great price, for which I am very grateful. Thank you, Daniel, for your outstanding work. :)
