Overview
I am a professional non-fiction editor with over 20 years' publishing experience, mainly in education and academia. I have worked on classroom resources for primary school teachers and their pupils, study guides for older students, and popular History books. As well as History, I specialise in English/literacy, Drama, Film and Media. With development editing, I can guide an author during the drafting and writing process to help with clarity, accessibility, tone, consistency and topic coverage, for example. This is done with sensitivity and imagination, and can be a set of detailed comments or a more general overview to point the right direction. A copy-edit will fine-tune and polish, so the work is accurate and the best it can be. Proofreading will check over those little points of spelling, grammar and punctuation that can still make a difference!
