I love ALL books, but especially genre and speculative fiction—mystery, thriller, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and anything weird and wonderful!
Hello! I'm a freelance writer and editor, a learning and development professional, and a published author. I've worked for financial and marketing firms as an instructor, technical writer, and instructional designer. I've written over a hundred newspaper columns and features (mostly about REALLY boring things) as a journalist and stringer. I know what it's like to work under deadline and get things done. And, like everyone here, I'm a book lover.
I've helped many authors achieve their dream of publication, whether it be traditionally published or as an indie author. I'm a board member at a local nonprofit writing center, where I run critique groups and work with both pre-published and established authors. I also run groups for indie authors, for authors writing query letters and submission packages, and for speculative fiction (horror, sci-fi, fantasy) writers and readers. I'm used to working closely with authors at all stages of their writing careers, whether they're looking to traditionally publish, indie publish, or write for themself.
I'm also a book marketer and work with authors to make sure that their books get visibility, sales, and reviews. A lot of this work is behind-the-scenes Amazon work and targeted advertising—I stay away from charging lots of money for marketing services that may or may not work, and instead customize every offer to give clients only what they need and want.
I especially love partnering with clients who want someone to answer their questions and help propel their careers well after my edits are done. I'll help you try to land an agent, navigate the world of indie publishing, and make your book visible to the world. After our work is done here, I'll always be available for guidance when you need me. I will be an advocate and partner for your book, not just someone you've paid to help make it excellent (and we WILL make it excellent!). I'm honored to be part of your writing journey however I can. Thank you for trusting me with your work. And congratulations on getting this far with your project! — Dave
