Monica Woods – Editor

Calm and creative travel and arts editor and project manager with extensive experience gained at Rough Guides and V&A Publishing.

Overview

I'm a freelance editor and writer with almost twenty years' experience in travel and arts publishing. I simply love working with words, be it writing, editing or proofreading.During my time at V&A Publishing (the publishing department of the Victoria and Albert Museum, one of the world's leading museums of art and design), I project-managed major exhibition catalogues, specialist collections-based books and high-profile designer retrospectives. At travel publisher Rough Guides, I managed the mainland Europe list, encompassing bestselling guides such as France, Italy and Croatia, brand new series, ebooks and one-off coffee table tomes. I've also worked for Lonely Planet, editing, fact-checking and proofreading titles such as Wine Trails: Australia & New Zealand and The Travel Atlas. More recently, I've been turning my hand to writing with regular contributions to travel inspiration website Love Exploring. My experience covers all aspects of the publishing process – assessing pitches, commissioning, structural editing, copy-editing, picture research, project-management, proofreading and promotion. I can help guide you through the process from start to finish, or assist along the way – do get in touch to discuss your next project.
