Overview

Mim Harrison has edited and published specialty books with the Library of Congress, the Morgan Library, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, and the Churchill estate. Among these were high-quality facsimiles of Lincoln’s five handwritten versions of the Gettysburg Address, the working papers for John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address, and Charles Dickens’s manuscript of A Christmas Carol. She also edited and produced From No Return: The 221-Year Journey of the Slave Ship São José, for the 2016 opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Among the authors is Lonnie Bunch, now the Secretary of the Smithsonian.Her most current project was editing and publishing America’s Bilingual Century: How Americans Are Giving the Gift of Bilingualism to Themselves, Their Loved Ones, and Their Country by Steve Leveen, the third book by this author that she has edited and published.Among the authors she has edited is Ronald White, a bestselling Lincoln scholar, and Ross King, a New York Times bestselling author. She has also edited curators at the Library of Congress, the Morgan and Shakespeare Libraries, and The New York Public Library, as well as leading Churchill expert Richard Langworth.In addition, Mim is the author of three books on the English language and of three mini-biographies (John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt).

Publishing Director, America the Bilingual Press, 2020 – present Head of the publishing arm of the America the Bilingual Project, a long-term initiative to encourage Americans to embrace English plus another language. In addition to editing and publishing the imprint’s flagship book, America’s Bilingual Century by Steve Leveen, the founder of America the Bilingual, I created a branded website that brings the project’s podcasts, blogs and books into a single, seamless destination. Smithsonian Institution, 2014 – 2017 Launch of a specialty line of books for Smithsonian Enterprises, showcasing works and acquisitions in the Smithsonian collections and museums. Among them is a multi-author book tying in with an exhibition for the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in September 2016. Founding editor, Levenger Press Delray Beach, Florida 1998 – 2016 At the request of the Levenger founder, I established a small publishing arm of the company that served to strengthen the Levenger brand by aligning the company with leading cultural institutions such as the Library of Congress, the Morgan Library and Museum, the John F.
