Maria Chiara Piccolo

Maria Chiara Piccolo – Translator

Eclectic translator and editor with 15 years of experience. Here to be your qualified voice for the Italian-speaking peoples.

Overview

I have 15 years' experience working as a translator and editor for major Italian publishers including Feltrinelli, Zanichelli, Mondadori, and Erickson. I have translated and edited genres ranging from literary fiction (Joyce, Mansfield), to popular science (Oxford's Very Short Introductions, TheDadLab, National Geographic), travel (Rough Guides, DK), textbooks, marketing and corporate communication.

For all these clients I provide accurate, fully fact-checked texts that are readable and ready for publication. On time. I understand that precision is a duty not an optional extra: I also work on dictionaries. The new entries in Italy's best-selling English-Italian dictionary (Il Ragazzini, Zanichelli) are mine. I am also the author of a Spanish dictionary for the young learners' market.

I like to work in close collaboration with my clients, maintaining a steady flow of feedback. This way I can adjust to their needs and desires in order to respect the true spirit of the text I am working on — while, of course, always providing a final text that can be read and enjoyed as if it were written in the target language.
