Andrea Marchiano

Andrea Marchiano – Editor

I'm a meticulous editor who currently works for Wonderbly, but spent several years editing mental health and wellbeing books at Trigger.

Overview

I draw from my decade-plus of editorial experience on every project. Currently, I am an editorial project manager, and I used to work for a mental health publisher as a managing editor, so my job has long been to keep tabs on an editorial calendar, provide feedback to my team and jump in to edit projects when needed. I previously served as editor, so my main focus was editing both mono and children's books. It may sound nerdy, but this is my favourite part of my job – and that's why I'm hoping to set up a side business where I edit as a freelancer!

I am a strong corrective copyeditor and proofreader. I can work in both British and American English (grew up in the US, but studied and work now in the UK). I am also very skilled at Americanis(z)ing text – I have done a lot of freelance work in this area, too!

The most important thing about my job is maintaining the author's voice. Editing makes a book stronger, but it shouldn't take away from the personality or person behind it! I would love to work on your project, streamlining it and perfecting the grammar, but keeping it very much your own.

Work experience

Wonderbly

Feb, 2025 — Present
At Wonderbly, my job combines my editing and managerial skills in a new and exciting way – I oversee the creation of books that can be customised, so rather than checking and editing proofs, I'm overseeing the design and coding of pages that can change with every customer's inputs.

Trigger Publishing

Aug, 2023 — Feb, 2025 (over 1 year)
I manage 10+ titles per season (spring-summer and autumn-winter) through editorial and production. For our most important titles, I jump in and copyedit or proofread; for all, I perform quality checks to ensure the books are of the highest possible quality.

Trigger Publishing and Cherish Editions

Jun, 2021 — Aug, 2023 (about 2 years)
I copyedited or proofread all of Cherish Editions' self-published titles, and then, when we reacquired Trigger Publishing, I worked on those books, too. This job really helped me hone my editorial skills!

I took a risk because Andrea was newer to Reedsy and had no reviews... and I am so glad I did! I'm happy to be her first review! She was friendly, responsive, and professional. She was even able to accommodate my rushed deadline. Her feedback was helpful and made my story better. She caught issue...
