Overview
Hi there! My name is Luisa, and I'm an Associate Editor at Roaring Brook Press / Macmillan Children's Publishing Group with six years experience working in children's books and an MS in Publishing from NYU. I also have a BA in Communications with an English Minor from Loyola University Maryland.
Since early 2018, I've worked on a variety of books for readers of all ages and across formats, including picture books, middle grade, and young adult fiction and nonfiction. Most recently, I edited the Hispanic Star chapter book series by Claudia Romo Edelman et al., and the Pura Belpre Honor-winning THE COQUIES STILL SING by Karina Nicole Gonzales and Krystal Quiles. I've worked on middle grade and YA novels and series written by critically-acclaimed and bestselling authors, including Joan He, Cory Anderson, Marie Lu, Melissa de la Cruz, Randy Wayne White, and more. Other picture books I've edited include THE WORRY BALLOON by Monica Mancillas and Betty C. Tang, and MONSTER BAKER by Laura Lavoie and Vanesa Morales.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I'm especially drawn to stories that feature Latine and Hispanic experiences. I also take special interest and care in stories by, for, and about neurodivergent people.
Editorially, I always like to put the author's vision for their project first, and will aim to make sure my edits align with their goal for each book. My hope is to provide you with the tools you need to create the best story possible, regardless of genre. In my profession

Provide feedback on developmental edits for projects including REBEL by Marie Lu, ALL THE IMPOSSIBLE THINGS by Lindsay Lackey, and STRANGERS ASSUME MY GIRLFRIEND IS MY NURSE by Shane Burcaw, among others.
