Luana Basconi – Translator

Hello! I’m Luana and I’ve been translating books and other things for a living for the past ten years. I’m also a reviser/bilingual proofreader and, sadly, I’m pretty bad at selling myself to potential clients. If you can get past that, though, you’ll find out I’m extremely passionate about my job.

I love the process of shaping stories and helping authors find their voice both in their mother tongue and in mine. I work closely with two Italian publishing houses in particular (Marsilio Sonzogno and E/O), and I have translated most books by bestselling author Brianna Wiest. Last year I worked with the team of Ne/oN on several fantasy books, both as a reviser and translator (the novel is yet to be published).

My biggest strength as a translator comes from also being an editor and proofreader – I know what to look out for and how to strike a balance between perfectionism and efficiency. I have been working in this field since 2016, both in-house and freelance, taking in the best and making the most of both worlds.
