Overview
I'm Lisa, bibliophile, cryptic crossword champion and cat lover. Before taking the plunge as a full-time freelance editor and proofreader in 2019, I spent five years working as an editor and project manager in the Editorial and Production departments of two academic publishing houses, most recently at Cambridge University Press, gathering expertise on a varied range of non-fiction titles. My insider publishing experience has given me valuable insight into the inner workings of academic presses and their expectations.
Books I have edited and proofread range from biographies to scholarly theological monographs and architectural coffee table books. My main areas of expertise are literature, media and film studies, music and theatre, biography, religion and modern history. After living in Paris for three years during my BA, I also enjoy working with texts featuring French, and in 2020 completed an MA in Translation Studies (French to English), receiving a distinction and the Trados Top Student Award.
Though my experience mainly lies in academic books, I have also worked on quite a few newsletters and magazine articles, and have dabbled in fiction. I always welcome a new challenge, so whatever you need edited or proofread, get in touch with the details and we can talk it over!
"Part of getting published is having a good editor to work with and Lisa was excellent!"
Keith Crawford, author of Arthur Mee: A Biography
"It was hugely heartening to feel Lisa's concern for the subject in the way she worked on the book."
Avril Pyman, author of Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh: A Life
"Lisa was a tremendous help and support."
Ambrose Mong, author of Purification of Memory: A Study of Orthodox Theologians from a Catholic Perspective
