Overview
I'm a dyed-in-the-wool, honest-to-goodness copy editor. I don't use copy editing software; I use spell check as a backup only, and I don't use grammar check because it's wrong so often. Real copy editors deliver meticulous, knowledgeable line and substantive editing; know grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax; and have broad general knowledge. As a lifelong copy editor I can line edit, substantively edit (up to and including rewriting) and critique all kinds of writing from advertising to novels.
