Lindsey Casto – Editor

Hi, I’m Lindsey! I have been working as a professional copyeditor (and occasional copy writer) since 2014. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Rhetoric and Writing, with minors in Spanish and Biology. During my senior year, I interned at Gundersen Health System in the communications department. I have always had a passion for science and medicine, and was lucky enough to spend a full year assisting with many different print and digital health system communications. There I had my first experiences with proofreading, editing, and copy writing. Soon after graduating, I was able to secure freelance editorial work with Coulee Parenting Magazine. There I wrote short articles for the magazine; took over the online community calendar; wrote, designed, and edited newsletters and email blasts; and assisted with any editorial duties as necessary. In 2015, I started working at Kaplan Professional Education as a copyeditor full time. At Kaplan, my skills and knowledge of editing grew every day. I gained experience editing print products, slides, online course, and other materials. During this time, my love of the Chicago Manual of Style solidified, and I would say it is my favorite guide (I do have experience with MLA, APA, and AP style as well). I am now venturing into the freelance editor world and am very excited! I offer manuscript evaluation and sample edit services as well as developmental edits, copyedits, and proofreads. I also have experience building indexes in MS Word and Adobe InDesign, so can help with indexing books.
