Linda Liebrand – Marketer

Helping authors reach more readers and sell more books with straightforward and easy-to-implement marketing strategies and 1:1 Coaching

Overview

Hi, my name is Linda, and I'm a book launch consultant, book marketing coach, and award-winning author fueled by tea and a passion for self-publishing. I’d love to help you launch your book and set up the marketing systems you need for a thriving author business.

Over the last few years, I’ve written and published 15 books, worked for the UK’s best-rated self-publishing house, and coached hundreds of authors through the self-publishing process. So, I understand the overwhelm and confusion that can come with writing, self-publishing, and marketing a book.

First, you spend weeks, months, or years getting the words down (between snack requests from the family and the demands of the day job).

And when the book is finally done, you realize there is one more job to do: figuring out how book marketing works when you’re not a marketer!

You go down a seemingly endless Google rabbit hole, looking for the bulletproof book marketing strategy to make your book a bestseller.

Overwhelm strikes, and you’re left more questions than answers.

And what’s even worse, just the thought of promoting your book on social media makes you break out in hives.

Sound familiar? It doesn’t have to be this way.

As a book marketer and coach, I thrive on creating strategic marketing plans for all genres and coaching authors to implement them. Let me help you go from book marketing overwhelm to clarity and a clear, calm path to a successful book launch.

When is the best time to work with me?

For new launches: Contact me after your manuscript is completed and all editing is done, but before you brief your book formatter or book cover designer.

Projects

Speaker at the Bournemouth Writing Festival

When I was invited to speak at the Bournemouth Writing Festival in 2023, I jumped at the opportunity, and I will be back in 2024. The topic was "7 Proven Steps to an Amazon Bestseller Launch."

In this session, authors learned about the precise steps needed to achieve bestseller status on Amazon and develop a thriving indie author business. I covered topics such as decoding bestseller strategies, effective marketing techniques, strategic timing, maximizing metadata, and pricing strategies.

Take a peek at the screenshots featuring feedback from authors who found value in my presentation.

Reader Magnet and Email Marketing for Fantasy Romance Author

For the Fantasy Romance author duo Gleem, I developed a comprehensive and straightforward email system aimed at enhancing their reader communication and potentially increasing review participation.

Creating the Email Opt-in Offer: I provided guidance on crafting an appealing opt-in offer tailored to their audience. They wrote a spin-off short story featuring two side characters from their debut novel.

Squarespace: I integrated an opt-in email box onto their author homepage to begin building their email subscriber list.

Using two platforms—MailerLite for reader emails and BookFunnel for delivering the book to readers' Kindle devices—I crafted email content and set up automated sequences:

The autoresponder sequences included:

1. Welcoming readers aboard and providing the link for downloading their freebie.

2. Encouraging readers to leave an honest review for their books on Amazon.

3. A sequence of six emails promoting titles from their backlist.

Additionally, I assisted them in creating engaging social media posts to share their new opt-in offer with their Instagram and Facebook followers, which garnered positive feedback, as you can see in the included screenshots.

Historical Fiction Bestseller Launch

I developed a detailed marketing strategy to support author Mark deMeza in launching his first novel, "The Thirteenth Child." This involved ongoing consultation and coaching to help him implement the plan, which included optimizing his book's keywords and categories and suggesting changes to his book cover. I also planned timely promotions, utilized email marketing, and used Amazon advertising.

The book achieved considerable success, reaching #1 Bestseller status in several relevant categories upon its debut and maintaining strong sales thereafter. Additionally, we secured press coverage in the Jewish Telegraph and local newspapers.

Two months post-launch, leveraging a combination of Facebook and Amazon ads along with email promotions, the book is ranking #3 in World War Historical Fiction and #7 in Jewish Literature on Amazon USA.

We've also accumulated 210 reviews on Amazon and 123 ratings on Goodreads.

Here's what Mark says about working with me:
"As a debut author, I really needed expertise to help me actually sell books after self-publishing. I was worried that after all the effort that had gone into writing the book, nobody would buy and read it.

Working with Linda was a joy. She was very well organized, answered all my questions and provided a robust, measured and structured approach to my book marketing.

Linda is multi-skilled so is able to help with a whole range of tasks from calculating the returns from ad investments to producing social media messages.

So, as well as having shown me a broad array of marketing tools, Linda has also left me with a template for future book marketing and a great deal more confidence in my ability to sell books in the future."

Fundamental Book Marketing System - Children's Picture Books

When I'm not assisting clients with their book marketing endeavors, I indulge in a personal passion project—creating children's picture books tailored for kids learning about Swedish language and culture while living abroad.

For this collection of twelve books, I've established a comprehensive marketing setup, including a Squarespace website and an email opt-in offering a five-day challenge designed for young Swedish learners. At the conclusion of the email series, parents are invited to explore and purchase my educational printables and books.

Within my email system, autoresponders tirelessly promote my backlist of books, educational resources, and encourage readers to share their feedback/reviews on Amazon.

I've meticulously optimized the metadata for my books to ensure they consistently appear in organic searches on Amazon. This straightforward and low-maintenance marketing system mirrors the approach I recommend to my author clients who are just starting out and I have implemented it with great results for both fantasy as well as business book authors.

I have included some screengrabs that show some of the results I have achieved over time in this tiny niche: Highlights include Books re-appearing in the bestseller lists one year on, and a 60-85% open rate for the email sequence along with its $2k printable sales...

Book Launch - Marketing Plan for Business Book

When Aytekin Tank, the founder of Jotform, released his book "Automate Your Busywork," his marketing team reached out to me for advice on how to launch it well on Amazon. We had a series consultation calls where I helped them come up with a strategic launch plan which included inviting his social media followers to join his email list, and how to use their social media followers to spread the word about the launch and get people to leave reviews. Thanks to our collaboration, the book became a #1 Bestseller in the Office Automation category on Amazon.
