Overview
I am a New York-based editor with nearly ten years of experience in the book publishing industry.
I spent five years at the storied publishing house Farrar, Straus and Giroux, where I edited literary fiction and a selection of nonfiction in the areas of memoir, essays, biography, criticism, and the arts. Among the books I worked on editorially are Beautyland and Exit Zero by Marie-Helene Bertino, Scaffolding and Vocal Break by Lauren Elkin, Daughter by Claudia Dey, and Mornings Without Mii by Mayumi Inaba (tr. Ginny Tapley Takemori).
I also oversaw the republication of Roberto Bolaño's backlist, and I commissioned and edited new introductions to his works by Ben Lerner and Nicole Krauss, which were subsequently serialized in The Paris Review and Harper's Magazine respectively.
Prior to working at FSG, I was a literary scout—assessing manuscripts and proposals, and making acquisitions recommendations—for a roster of clients including twenty international publishing houses and Netflix.
I am also a trained copy editor, with a professional certificate from UC San Diego, and I am on the proofreading roster of several major houses.
I consider myself a reader first and foremost; through attuned, curious reading, I develop a sense for the voice, arc, and ambitions of the work, and tailor my edits to help it—at whichever stage it's in, from first draft to proofs—become the best version of itself.
I look forward to hearing from you about your book project!
