Work experience

Self-employed

Apr, 2014 — Present

My editorial duties include proofreading and copy editing a variety of non-fiction projects, from memoirs and self-help books to journal articles. I am also responsible for the complete layout and design of an online journal project, which I complete using Adobe InDesign. I work with formatting and laying out documents, and work with authors to substantively edit their projects as well, developing and shaping their work so it becomes the best it can be.

ECW Press

May, 2013 — Nov, 2013 (6 months)

Responsibilities included proofreading and copyediting content such as manuscripts and promotional materials, preparing reading reports of submitted manuscripts and doing final flip-throughs of printer proofs to ensure quality content. I also prepared market research, created and sent out pitch letters to promote authors and their books, and worked on social media aspects of marketing as well, including managing the ECW blog and interacting with followers via Twitter and Facebook.

Lesley-Anne was nothing short of amazing, intuitive, honest, and patient. She kept my “voice”, challenged me to dig deeper and pushed me to draw my reader in and to always keep them in mind throughout. This being my first book, I felt very confident while working with Lesley-Anne. It was encouraging and a learning experience. I will be forever appreciative of her contributions!
