Laura Roberts

Laura Roberts – Editor

Copy editing, proofreading, and transcription services for indie authors and small businesses.

Overview

Hi! I’m Laura Roberts, and I’m a freelance writer, editor and transcriber based in Sacramento, California. Since 2007, I’ve worked for lots of amazing companies, writing everything from interviews and book reviews to profiles of hotels, points of interest, and different cities around the world; editing the works of hundreds of indie authors; and providing verbatim audio and video transcription for reality TV and market research companies in the U.S. and Canada.

My work has been featured on travel sites like Expedia and MapQuest, and in magazines like Travel + Leisure. I’ve also contributed to popular writing sites like Funds For Writers and Writers Weekly, and have even written custom content for businesses like the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, Hips & Curves Lingerie, and the Yellow Pages. I’ve also written audio transcripts for all your favorite reality shows, from "Alaska: The Last Frontier" to "The Real Housewives of New York City" to "Who Do You Think You Are?"

What sets me apart?
  • Fast turn-around times are as important to me as they are to my clients – indie authors, small business owners and entrepreneurs with tight deadlines.
  • Editing isn’t just the application of grammatical rules and a quick run through the spell-checker. I work closely with authors to make sure their manuscripts are the best they can be, at each stage of the editing process.
  • My degrees in Creative Writing, English Literature, and Philosophy are a testament to my quest for knowledge, which will never cease. I love learning new things – especially from the awesome people I get to work with every day.
