Laura Lancaster

Laura Lancaster – Editor

A former publishing professional now working as a freelance writer and editor in the outdoor space for Backpacker, Mountaineers Press, etc.

Overview

I am a freelance writer/editor for Mountaineers Press, Backpacker magazine, Survivor's Edge, Roots Rated, and others. A native Pacific Northwesterner, my previous work experience includes NYC-based stints at Oxford University Press, Harris Publications, and St. Martin's Press as a non-fiction acquiring editor for the environment, science, politics, and history. In 2014, I headed back to the mountains, thru-hiking the 2600-mile Pacific Crest Trail, followed by the 486-mile Colorado Trail, the 93-mile Wonderland Trail, as well as section hikes along the Oregon Coast Trail and Pacific Northwest Trail. When I'm not in the mountains testing gear or creating GPX tracks, I can be found at home in Seattle.
