Kirsten Rawlings

Kirsten Rawlings – Editor

My speciality is travel and other non-fiction – I've worked with Lonely Planet for many years. I have 15 years of editing experience.

Overview

There’s nothing more exciting than receiving a new manuscript, exploring the world the author has created and analysing how to make it better. Call it the joy of editing. A sometime-writer myself, I am also very aware of how much hard work you will have done by the time you hand the manuscript to me!

My in-house publishing experience has mostly involved working on travel books, and as a freelance editor I have worked on a range of titles from cookbooks to books about innovation and team creativity. I have a wide range of interests and enjoy working on young-adult novels as much as how-to books about investing.

I have worked with publishing houses in Australia, the US and the UK, and can accurately edit to your preferred English (US or British style etc). I hold a post-graduate qualification in publishing and editing, am an accredited editor in Australia and New Zealand, and have been a managing editor and an associate publisher. I have also trained and mentored editors for many years.

I am organised and punctual and will take great care to work with you to make your book better and help your writing connect with readers. And I'm looking forward to hearing about your project!
