Kieran Viola – Editor

I started in the publishing industry as an editorial assistant on Sweet Valley High and worked my way up the ladder until I was editing that series (which published a new book every month!) and many others. For fourteen years after that I wrote YA and Middle grade fiction and non-fiction under both my own name and the pen name Kate Brian. (You may have heard of my best-selling early aughts series PRIVATE or my cult-fave MEGAN MEADE'S GUIDE TO THE MCGOWAN BOYS.) For the past ten years I've been editing YA and MG fiction for Disney Hyperion and developing new IP for the company. I've edited hits like THE INHERITANCE GAMES (book 1), BLUE BLOODS, THE BELLES, #MURDERTRENDING, SOLIMAR, KINGDOM KEEPERS and many more.

The authors I've worked with have always described me as an author's editor. As a published author myself, I know EXACTLY what you're going through (yes, I also promise myself a cupcake if I just finish this one . . . measly . . . chapter . . . ) and I know how to coach you through it because I've been on both sides of the table. I have a special talent for figuring out what a manuscript needs and then coming up with multiple ways to get it there. Then I deliver notes in the most supportive, encouraging, optimistic way possible to make the process as exciting (and painless) as it can be.
