Sorchia DuBois – Editor

Find your voice and polish your prose. Free sample. Reasonable prices. Quick turnaround. A kind and courteous critique.

Overview

My clients use phrases such as "...a pleasure to work with," "...communicative and flexible," and " more pleasant person to work with," as well as " perfect combination of skepticism and praise" and "...excellent editor, focused on nuances and details of the project."

My experience includes twenty-five years as an educator and thirteen as an editor. I've worked with professionals to create everything from training documents to YA fantasy novels. Now, I live in a house in the woods with a number of cats who supervise my writing and editing.

I offer low prices for a couple of reasons:

1--I know how hard it is to launch a book on a shoestring. Been there; done that!

2--I believe in the integrity of the publishing biz--despite the growing numbers of independent authors. Producing quality books strengthens the industry, so I believe every book benefits from editing by a trained professional.

My schedule is flexible, and my turnaround times are short--unless my feline overlords have other duties for me to perform.

I believe in teaching while I edit to help authors approach each new book knowing more than they did before. I word my advice kindly and strive to create a collegial atmosphere. To make sure we are compatible, I offer an editing sample of your work for free.

Work experience

Self-employed

Oct, 2018 — Present

After years as an educator and as an editor for a virtual education provider--not to mention four years as an author--I've taken my show on the road. The WordWitch Editing specializes in fantasy, mystery, horror, and romance--but we don't discriminate against other genres. We love romance, science fiction, and thrillers, too! In addition to editing, I create suspenseful blurbs, efficiently-worded synopses, and eye-catching promotional graphics.
