Kathy Savadel – Editor

I am a professional copyeditor and proofreader with more than 25 years of experience in both books and journals. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and a graduate degree in newspaper and magazine editing. As a student, I had a hard time choosing between those two fields, and I consider myelf lucky to have been able to combine the two.

I am most comfortable with academic-type projects. I specialize in psychology and the social sciences but have experience with other topics as well, and I am always open to learning new things. I am a dedicated bookworm who, when I am not working, often has my nose stuck in a book. I appreciate the fact that each author has put blood, sweat, and tears into their work, and I am sensitive to that. I take a delicate approach and tend to ask authors a lot of questions to ensure that an error does not get inadvertently introduced into their text. I never make a change that they have not approved. I genuinely enjoy this collaboration and the back-and-forth exchanges that are part of a quality editorial process.
