Overview

I’ve been fortunate enough to work in the children’s book industry for over fifteen years and have experience on all sides of both the creative process and the business of books.

My experience as an author allows me to be sensitive to the story behind the book and to appreciate the work you’ve put in. (Blood, sweat, and typos!)
My experience as an editor means I will work tirelessly to polish your manuscript into the perfectly publishable book you know it can be. (My specialty is developmental editing but I will never let a book go out into the world with a missing serial comma!)
My experience as an acquisitions editor shows that I can review thousands (truly, thousands) of submissions each year and have developed the eye of an art dealer in a thrift store. I know when a manuscript has value and when to throw my dollar on the counter and run away with a fortunate find.
All my experience has lead me to become the editorial director for Silver Dolphin Books, which publishes over one hundred quality children’s books each year. My craft is creating books that sell—everything from board books to picture books to middle grade fiction.

I’m happy to guide you and your book (no matter what shape it’s in!) through the entire publishing process. You’ve got an idea, and a start on a manuscript...I’m here to get you to that amazing moment when you hold your finished book in your hand. It’s an unreal experience—let’s get you there!

Aniska Gibson
Kate is the consumate professional. She was very kind but truthful about what I submitted (can't call it a manuscript at this point) and her suggestions for improvement was the impetus I needed to move on to complete the work.

Simply put, Kate was perfection. She was exactly who I needed to help turn this lifelong idea into a reality. I not only walked away with a manuscript but with a friend.
