Julia Wallace

Julia Wallace – Editor

Nearly 30 years of editorial experience specializing in Christian fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books. Let me help your work shine!

Overview

I started out as an editorial intern and writer with Warner Press. That internship fueled my desire to help people communicate well. Over the years I’ve worked my way up the publishing ladder from proofreader of John Wiley and Sons and McGraw Hill law text books to catalog copyeditor for Current Inc. and Paper Direct to magazine editor and writer for a large Christian nonprofit.

For a couple of years I worked for a Christian denomination’s magazine as the Marketing Manager. This provided an area of growth that led to winning an award for the best denominational magazine marketing campaign. While trying something different for awhile was fun, it made me realize how passionate I am about the editorial process. I decided to go back to my roots and work for Penguin Random House.

With 20-plus years now at Penguin Random House, I’ve grown in my skills and helped publish thousands of Christian adult nonfiction, fiction, children’s, YA, and giftable books. I love problem solving, project management, and helping writers reach their dreams of being published authors.

I’ve also freelanced for many publishers and nonprofits, including Cru, Outreach, Colorado Christian University and others. When I'm not working, I'm reading women's contemporary and literary fiction, gardening in my backyard, helping my daughter negotiate middle school, playing fetch with my rescue Staffy mix and GSD, or engaging in other life adventures.

I hope I have the privilege of assisting you whether you’re working on your first book or your next one.

Thanks to Julia, my first experience with a developmental editor was very helpful. Not only did her thoughtful suggestions improve my story, but her friendliness and commitment to my writing made her a joy to work with. Even after we were officially done, she was willing to answer questions about my next project.
