Jim Melloan

Jim Melloan – Editor

Background in financial and business journalism, at Worth and Inc. magazines. Production editor for The Princeton Review (test prep books).

Overview

Hello, for the past eight years I've been a part-time Production Editor for The Princeton Review, which publishes test-prep books. I work on SAT books, AP English, AP World History, AP European History, AP U.S. History, AP Statistics and many others. I'm a stickler as a copy editor for grammar and clarity, and I flag and check questionable assertions and assumptions. As Project Manager for the Inc. 5000 in 2007-2010 I had the ultimate responsibility for the accuracy and readability of 5,000 company profiles. I oversaw the work of interns, staff writers, and freelancers, and hired freelance writers and editors. I made sure that the profiles for thousands of private companies with esoteric business models in all industries were understandable to a lay audience. Many of these companies had had little to no journalistic coverage before. As a writer for Worth magazine I became well versed in investing and finance, and was a respected and trusted fact-checker. I also have a strong understanding of science. I'm friendly, fun, and easy to get along with, and I'm not shy about expressing my viewpoint.
