Perrin Davis

Perrin Davis – Editor

Cookbooks are my specialty—books I have edited have won or been finalists for James Beard, IACP, and Gourmand awards.

Overview

I’m a Chicago-based freelance editor, writer, and book publishing consultant with a specialization in cookbooks and other nonfiction titles. I am devoted to helping publishers, companies, and individuals polish and enhance their prose.

I’ve been in publishing for more than 29 years, and the last 15 have been devoted to developing and honing my skills as a nonfiction book editor. During my time as senior vice president of Agate Publishing, a well-known independent publisher in Evanston, IL, I edited more than 80 published titles and learned the intricate art of working closely with authors. In 2016, a book I edited entitled Dinner at Home won the International Association of Culinary Professionals Cookbook Award for the Children, Youth, and Family category. In 2015, another book I edited entitled Charcuteria was a finalist for a James Beard Foundation Book Award and a Gourmand award; three other books I have edited have been finalists for International Association of Culinary Professionals Cookbook Awards. I decided to leave my role at Agate to partner directly with publishers, agents, and authors to create beautiful, reader-friendly books. I look forward to learning more about your project and how I can help make it a reality.
