Jess Redman

Jess Redman – Editor

Experienced non-fiction editor specialising in craft, cooking and design. Worked at Penguin Aust. and for ThamesHudson, Hardie Grant.

Overview

I'm a qualified and experienced editor working across all aspects of the editing process, including structural editing, copyediting and proofreading. Before starting my own editing and writing business, I worked in-house as a Senior Editor at Penguin Books Australia. I specialise in non-fiction, with particular expertise in cooking, craft and highly illustrated titles. Recent projects include high-end garden design and architecture books, as well as instructional craft titles.

Although I am more than happy to do a quick proofread, light copy edit or regionalisation, I really enjoy working on projects that require a more thorough rework, and am often asked to create content from the ground up (e.g. based on surveys or interviews).

Helping authors transform their ideas into clear, concise and interesting prose is what I love to do.
