Overview
I'm a copy editor and proofreader with over 20 years of experience, a writer with over 35 years of experience, and a highly capable, eagle-eyed person who loves working with words.
I'm also a published author, so I come to this with the perspective of both sides: editor AND writer. So, I try to keep it fairly simple. I ask for your work in a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx), in 12 pt font, and double spaced. I use Track Changes for my suggested changes. Then you decide whether you'd like to incorporate them or not. It's your name on the finished product, not mine; so you should ideally agree with, or be comfortable with, my suggestions.
I do *not* do any kind of developmental or content editing; please don't ask me for that. I'm just the cleanup crew, taking your rough-edged stone and polishing it into a clean, shiny diamond.
Working on manuscripts (fiction or nonfiction) is my favorite kind of job, with romance, women's fiction, and commercial fiction being my specialties, but I am open to jobs in all genres. I've worked in various fields throughout my professional career. Pharmaceutical advertising, direct mail marketing, medical journalism are just a few of my prior day jobs. I'm open to most possibilities at this stage. If something has words to clean up and sort out, I'm an asset to you. And I'm not your stereotypical shy, quiet editorial type; I'm friendly, easy to work with, responsive, and will probably make you laugh, given the opportunity.
