Inma Gonzalez – Translator

I'm Inma, an EN>ES translator | 25+ books published in the fields of Gastronomy, Photography and Arts | Trusted by Tursen, H. Blume & Akal

Overview

I’ve had the privilege of translating over 25 books spanning subjects like gastronomy, photography, calligraphy, art, and technical manuals. Each project has been a unique journey into the world of the authors I collaborate with, and I’ve loved every step of the process—from untangling complex concepts to finding just the right words to capture their voice. My work has been published by renowned publishers, and there’s nothing quite like seeing a beautifully printed book that I helped bring to life.

With 20 years of experience under my belt, I bring a meticulous approach to every project. Whether working independently or as part of a team, I’m dedicated to delivering translations that resonate with the target audience while staying true to the original text. I thrive on clear communication and take pride in building smooth, stress-free collaborations. If we work together, you can expect a reliable partner who’s as invested in your book as you are.

Work experience

Self-employed

Dec, 2005 — Present
I’m a freelance translator with nearly two decades of experience. While my main specializations are in Life Sciences, legal translation, and marketing, my passion for beautifully crafted books has led me to collaborate with prestigious publishers such as Tursen, H. Blume, and Akal. Translators rarely get to see their work in print, so unpacking my first translated book—a stunning edition—was an incredibly moving experience, one that I’ve been hooked on ever since. I stepped away from book translation for a while to focus on other markets. However, I truly miss that unique sense of accomplishment, and I’ve decided it’s time to return to this field. I know the workflows, the intricacies of the publishing industry, and I have the experience and skills it demands. I’d love the opportunity to discuss your project and collaborate with you. Main tasks: translation, post-editing, proof-reading and content-authoring

What have been the biggest challenges and rewards of freelancing compared to working in-house?

I found my first in-house translation job—whether by luck or sheer stubbornness, I’m not sure. In Spain, as in many other countries, in-house opportunities for translators are scarce, but I didn’t feel ready to start my own business. So, I sent out thousands of CVs. When I got no response, I dec...
