Heather Rivera – Editor

15 years of word alchemy at your service! Skilled copy editor and proofreader, I preserve your unique style. Let's make your words shine!

Overview

I am a writer and book editor. I have edited and published numerous books with Open Court Publishing for their 'Pop Culture and Philosophy' series over the past 15 years. I have also published my own works with Open Court, Wiley Blackwell, and Philosophy Now Magazine.

In addition to my writing and editorial work, I have a passion for baking and street photography. I love capturing moments in time others tend to miss.

I am a born and bred NY girl who has moved to the Deep South; it's a culture shock and a wonderful experience, who knows, maybe I'll write a book about it.

I have worked for countless authors and academics.

*I only offer copy editing and proofreading services.*

I do not offer developmental editing, translating services, or editorial assessments.

May, 2013 — Present
Since May 2013, I have been entrusted with the pivotal role of accepting or denying abstracts for cutting-edge current CFA's (Call for Abstracts) to curate a series of thought-provoking volumes. Drawing upon my expertise and discerning eye, I meticulously select the most compelling abstracts, ensuring that only the most innovative ideas and research make their way into our esteemed series. From the meticulous arrangement of the Table of Contents and Index to the seamless integration of Bio Blurbs and the painstakingly crafted Footnotes and Endnotes, I leave no stone unturned in perfecting the final manuscript. The introduction, which sets the stage for the collaborative brilliance within each volume, is a canvas upon which I artfully paint a captivating narrative, inviting readers into a world of intellectual exploration.

Disappointed with all the errors that were still found in the draft. Duplicate sentences, spelling errors, incorrect word choices, etc. I thought I was paying for a polished final product.

Never again I will ask an editor from Reedsy, because they claim to have only professional editors, Which wasn’t m...
