Erin Falligant

Erin Falligant – Editor

I'm a children's author and long-time editor of children's books, from picture books and middle-grade fiction to advice and activity books.

Overview

I love helping authors shape their work, from deep developmental edits to the final polishing of a manuscript. After working as a children's book editor for over 15 years, I began my career as a children's author in 2014. I've been on both sides of the editing process, so I know how difficult reworking a manuscript can feel. Revisions aren't easy, but they always, always, always make for a better book!

I begin every edit with a high-level read (in Microsoft Word or Google Docs) to help authors solidify their plot, themes, and character arcs. A developmental edit can take a few passes before a manuscript is ready for copyediting. But I'll stick with authors through every step and am happy to communicate via email, phone, or Zoom (if you don't mind my needy kitty hogging the screen!). I'm eager to read your work—and to help you take it to the next level.

I just picked her out of the list, made she was a perfect match to my needs. I plan to use her again with other projects if she i...

Working with Erin was a dream. As a first-time writer, Erin took my story, sifted through multiple fantasy characters, reduced unneeded dialogue, and made it a professional well-constructed piece. She was prompt, helpful, and quick with insight and suggestions. Everyone should be so fortunate to ...

I specialize in books for kids — fiction and nonfiction alike. You don't have to be Willie Nelson to get me involved, but it worked for him.
