Overview
Hi! I am Natalia, a Latinx editor and writer, who absolutely LOVES fiction. I work primarily on children's books at Charlesbridge. My editing skills have been honed through reading, writing, and earning an MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing from Emerson College.
I enjoy editing stories that are character-driven and explore emotional journeys. I love fantasy and speculative fiction but give me a good, well-grounded journey in the real world, and I will love it just as much.
I believe in the representation of voices that have not been allowed space in publishing before, and I also think characters should represent who we are on the daily. Because of this, I have also worked on books that have bilingual voices, with two languages intermingled throughout the story. If this is something you are interested in exploring, I can help you make it happen effectively; be it in the developmental editing stage, or during the copyediting and/or proofreading phases of your book, to make sure they blend smoothly, while still maintaining clarity for the reader. I can work on texts that mix in Spanish, Portuguese or French.

- Acquire manuscripts of various genres and age groups, including board books, picture books, chapter books, and middle-grade books.
- Work on conceptual, developmental, and line editing for children's books in English, Spanish, and bilingual.
- Manage the freelancers' program and coordinate workloads and deadlines on behalf of editors.
- Manage the Spanish/Bilingual program; evaluate frontlist and backlist titles for translation opportunities.

- Translated Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic materials to English.
- Fact-checked, edited, copyedited, and proofread translations for quality control to ensure accuracy and relevancy of the information.
- Taught junior translators techniques on how to translate for content and message, as opposed to word-by-word, as well as how to edit and proofread translations.
- Authored, copyedited, and proofread reports based on the translations collected, and assessed for adherence to DoD report-publishing style.
