Diana Coe

Diana Coe – Editor

I will polish your book and make it shine. I've proofread for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Harvard Common Press, and Greenleaf Book Group.

Overview

Someone once described a copy editor as the stylist who picks out the little black dress, perfect matching shoes, the right jewelry, and a fabulous handbag. The proofreader? The one who comes along and points out the mustard stain. I'm THAT person.

"But, Diana," you ask, "how did you fall in love with proofreading after a lifetime career as a graphic designer and art director in publishing?"

That's a long, strange road and I do still keep my hand in design. These days, however, I prefer to focus on proofreading, and I've enjoyed more than ten years of working for such publishers as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Wylie Agency, Harvard Common Press, Greenleaf Book Group, and the Center for Creative Leadership. Until the list was sold, I had the privilege of working on several Best American Series including Best American Comics, Best American Food Writing, and Best American Sports Writing each year. I've proofread such authors as Robert Stone, Samin Nosrat, Tim Ferriss, Philip K. Dick, Oliver Potzsch, Anya Seton, Salman Rushdie, and literally hundreds of others.

If I had to pick favorite genres, I'd say historical fiction, sports writing (I've proofread biographies for Ali, Favre, and DiMaggio, to name a few), and food writing. However, I'm not sure there's a genre I haven't worked on, and I'm entirely flexible--recently I've been proofreading quite a few fun YA books! If you are looking for someone who is easy to work with, creative, attentive to detail, and affordable, you've found her!
