David Marsh

David Marsh – Editor

With 25 years of experience in book editing and newspaper journalism, I specialize in nonfiction that's accessible for a wide readership.

Overview

“David was an outstanding copy editor and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again. His edits were precise and his suggestions most helpful.”

– Sarah Cox, author of SIgns of Life

"David took a part in a process I was nervous about and made it super simple, easy, and he provided amazing guidance, support, and helpful suggestions every step of the way. Would easily work with David again."

– Richard Harris, author of The Seller's Journey

"Thanks very much for the brilliant job you did."

– Paul McKendrick, author of Scrubbing the Sky

I've run an editing business since 2020 and worked on more than one hundred books, mostly nonfiction, for traditional publishers and self-publishing authors in that time. Before that I was a newspaper journalist for twenty years, writing and editing articles on a wide range of topics.

I'm highly knowledgeable about the nuts and bolts of editing — grammar, punctuation, style guides — and I'm consistently thorough (including basic fact checking), sensitive to the author's priorities, and committed to helping them make their work the best it can be.

I mainly do copyediting and proofreading, but I'm also available for substantive editing — or a customizable mix, depending on the author's needs. I also offer competitive rates and friendly, prompt service.
