WHY WORK WITH ME?
When you need your book translated into English, you can't afford to take risks. That's where I come in; I've been a full-time freelance French to English translator since 2002, I'm certified by the American Translators Association for French to English translation, I have two Master's degrees (one in French Literature and one in conference interpreting), I've translated six non-fiction books for publishers including Hay House UK, Mountaineers Books, and Barron's Educational Series, and my own book *about* translation has sold over 12,000 copies.
WHAT I TRANSLATE
I translate only non-fiction, and I specialize in outdoor adventure, sports, nature, and personal growth. My translation of Swiss climber Erhard Loretan's autobiography, Night Naked, was shortlisted for the Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature, and an Amazon reviewer wrote this about my translation of Sherpa: The memoir of Ang Tharkay, "Corinne McKay's stunning translation of SHERPA: THE MEMOIR OF ANG THARKAY for the Mountaineers Books Legends and Lore series is a work of literary art. "
HOW I WORK WITH YOU
Because I translate books and non-literary documents, I understand the importance of great writing, and the importance of meeting every deadline and following your instructions. Once I take a look at your manuscript, I'll give you a firm quote and turnaround time, and I'll stay in contact with you (most of my authors prefer weekly updates, but we can discuss your preference) and send any questions or requests for clarification.
Because I have a wide network of contacts in the language professions, I can include proofreading by a second French to English translator in my quote. Your English manuscript will be ready for review by the agreed-upon deadline, and then we'll discuss any final changes before you go to print!
As an author myself, I know the stress and excitement of pushing the "Submit" button on your book project. We'll work together to make sure that your manuscript hits just the right tone.
