MJ Clark

MJ Clark – Editor

Kind, meticulous proofreader of trade nonfiction and literary fiction. I've worked on books from Algonquin Books, HarperCollins, and more.

Overview

I have four years of professional experience in freelance proofreading and copyediting, primarily in trade nonfiction and fiction. Other genres I've worked in include middle grade, young adult nonfiction, literary criticism, self-help, cookbooks, biographies, memoirs, history, anthologies, and even film theory and patents. I've worked with HarperCollins, Algonquin Books, Duke University Press, Rockridge Press, and Paraclete Press; as well as authors Sarah Blake, Tabitha Brown, Thich Nhat Hanh, and many, many more.

I'm a writer myself, having studied English and Creative Writing (and Film Studies!) at university—exploring the many ways to tell a story, and helping others tell theirs, is my greatest passion.

I can provide an efficient, clean proofread, or an in-depth, thoughtful copyedit, and am always willing and able to adapt to my clients' needs. I pride myself on quick turnarounds, flawless proofs, and polished voices—and I would love to help you shape your book into the very best it can be.
