Overview
I've been in the book business since 2000. I spent the first five years of my career as an in-house editor (North Atlantic Books, Auralog Paris) before making the jump to freelance writer. I’ve worked on a variety of projects, from digital content and audio scripts (BBC Travel, GuideAlong) to coffee table and photography books (La Martinière Groupe), and travel and children's titles (Lonely Planet, National Geographic) to textbooks and thought-provoking academic studies (University of California Press, Columbia University Press).
As a published author and editor, I have been on both sides of a query—I always try to collaborate in a way that allows you to best realize your vision without sacrificing editorial integrity. My background in languages (Chinese, French) has provided me with many opportunities to work with writers from around the world.
In these days of reduced travel, I usually spend my free time outdoors: I love rock climbing, canyoneering, backpacking, and skiing, and have written several audio scripts and bestselling travel guides to US national parks for Lonely Planet and Guide Along. I spent a total of fifteen years living in China, Taiwan, and Paris. I speak and read French and Chinese, and also work as a translator.
