Overview
I have over 15 years' experience in educational publishing and product management. At Pearson, I worked on titles for secondary History, Religious Studies, Drama and English, and on online courseware for higher education qualifications in Business, Engineering and Computing. At Rhinegold Publishing, I edited study guides for Music, Drama and Classics; and I wrote for and edited magazines such as Music Teacher and Classical Music. At Bloomsbury Publishing, I worked in the Reference department on a range of dictionaries and thesauruses for US and UK markets. I am experienced with both print and digital publishing, and I have an MA in Digital Media. I recently moved into the museum sector, where I currently work part-time. My subject background is in Classics, and I'm passionate about history, languages and cultural heritage. I'm an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, with a particular love of historical fiction. I enjoy shaping a rough manuscript into a publishable text. I'll look at structure, flow, clarity and consistency, and I'll explain my recommendations, so it's clear why I think they'll improve the text. I provide sensitive and considered feedback, respecting the author's own expertise. I'm a strong copyeditor and proofreader, and I pride myself on my thoroughness and attention to detail. I'm an experienced fact-checker and can include this as part of the service if required. I'm happy working to a specific style guide, if you have a preference.
